How Do You Make a Simple Bow Tie?
- Choose a vibrant fabric that reflects your dog’s personality. Then, cut it out with a measurement of 10.5 inches by 3.5 inches and a small version of 5 inches by 3 inches.
- Start stitching the big and small rectangles. Make sure to leave at least ¼-inch seam allowance. Keep a close eye on the patterns of the fabric. It should match when you flip it right side out.
- Scrunching the fabric will make the shape of the bow tie. Stitch the center so you can keep the form intact.
- Make the middle of the bow tie using small rectangles, folded, and facing the right sides together. Fold these rectangles into half and then attach it to the cinched fabric to complete the bow tie look.
How Do You Attach a Bow Tie to a Dog Collar?
You can insert the bow tie to your dog's collar using the seam allowance of the middle. If the buckle is thin, adjust the middle into a smaller rectangle so it won't be bulky and uncomfortable. When creating the bow tie center, use scraps of fabric to test it out and make sure that it fits your dog correctly.
Do Bow Ties Hurt Dogs?
It is only harmful when you use materials that are dangerous to your pets. Some dogs can manage to remove the bow tie and will most likely chew it. If your dog ingests toxic substances from the bow tie, then it can be very harmful. Hence, make sure to choose fabrics that are safe for pets. As much as possible, stay away from using elastic and clip fittings. You can sew the ends together to make sure it won't come off when your dog is playing.
Putting a dog bow tie on your dog is a fun idea, especially if you are attending a special occasion together. Your furry friend won't even notice the bow tie on their collar, but surrounding friends will do! Creating or purchasing a lovely bow tie is one way to spoil your dog.
